Our last event of 2013 will be held at the Manhattan Autodesk office space located at 38 West 21st Street on the 9th Floor, New York NY 10011. You must RSVP to attend and if you have not attended one of our prior events, you must also fill out our registration survey online prior to arriving.

Harnessing Softimage for a 3ds Max Workflow

Our presenter for December, flying in from Los Angeles, will be Softimage guru and all around cool dude Mark Schoennagel.  Mark will be showing some very cool things you can do using Softimage’s very powerful ICE particle features including crowds and fire as well as a few other complex particle based effects.  Most importantly he will show how to bring these elements back into 3ds Max and in general show the back and forth interoperability between the two packages.  If you want to expand your horizons as an artist this is not to be missed.

Some of you may be asking, “Why a presentation on Softimage at a 3ds Max user group?”  Two reasons really.  For one, 3ds Max artists cannot live by 3ds Max alone, we commonly employ other apps such as Realflow, Photoshop, After Effects, Nuke, etc.  Secondly many studios own one of Autodesk’s Entertainment Suites which may include Softimage (Premium and Ultimate Suites) so you may already have Softimage available to you.
