While some of you may have heard of Autodesk University (AU), many of you who don’t work in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) sectors and use 3ds Max in the Media and Entertainment (M&E) fields may not have.\u00a0 AU has been Autodesk’s big yearly conference and has traditionally been heavily biased towards attendees from the AEC markets and hence had little to appeal to those of us on the M&E side off things.\u00a0 Recently Autodesk has been making a concerted effort to expand AU’s focus to include more M&E content.\u00a0 This year is no different.\u00a0 In fact they have a relatively new mini conference that starts right before and overlaps AU.\u00a0 At least a couple New Yorkers, Joe Gunn and Kim Lee will be speaking\/teaching again at this coming AU\/CAVE in Las Vegas December 1-5, 2013.\u00a0 Joe Gunn’s class is titled “Unleashing MassFX: The Art of Destruction” and Kim Lee’s class is “From Digital to Physical: Making of the Hyperspace Madness Trilobot”<\/p>\n

If the 5 keynote speakers lined up for CAVE are any indication, it should be an interesting conference pushing beyond the already expected how-to software focus and bringing the conceptual design\/artistic aspect as well as some levity.\u00a0 The five keynote speakers are:<\/p>\n
